Broadway Commons is the culmination of the partnership of CBTWO and Salem Alliance Church. With community service as a shared goal, the 47,000 SF building provides an architectural and civic anchor in the renewing neighborhood of Broadway Street. Broadway Commons is home to Salem Free Medical Clinic, Broadway Coffeehouse, as well as an assortment of meeting spaces and classrooms — all geared towards serving the public.

The design of the building is a continued expression of its mission. With an emphasis on programmatic efficiency and aesthetic design, the building’s typologies are layered vertically. Form and materials express program relationships through the exterior facade. Light-colored brick, generous canopies, and large glazing define the first floor, drawing visitors in. Floor-to-ceiling glass makes the fourth-floor prayer center a glowing crown to the building and the custom wood ceiling reflects the warmth of the light. From the first floor to the fourth, Broadway Commons welcomes the community and brings it together under one roof.
